After School Enrichment

GYM GAMES with Mr. Bourque & Mr. S. – Play your favorite gym games, like Mission Impossible, Capture the Flag, Mattball, and Pirate Ball to name a few.  Have fun and be a good sport!  Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.

TENNIS with Marcy’s Tennis Academy Enjoy the lifetime sport of tennis with Marcy’s Tennis Academy!  Players will learn and practice the fundamentals of tennis including the forehand, backhand, volleys, serve and overhand smash.  Introduction to scoring and match play will be taught in a fun, and energetic environment.  In addition, tennis scoring and an introduction to tennis strategy will be taught.  All players must bring a junior tennis racquet to each clinic.   Wear gym attire and bring a tennis racquet. Snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.

GROUP PIANO Children will learn basic music theory, and they will learn familiar and seasonal tunes to play on the piano in Middle-C, and C- position. They will also learn to name all the white keys, and many musical terms, and symbols.

COOKING CLASS – The kitchen classroom is the tastiest place to learn!   Send your child to have some fun, make new friends and learn to cook!  Each week we will make different foods such as pizza, pancakes, omelets and lots more!   If you have food allergies, please talk to the ASE Coordinator first before signing up.

SENSATIONAL SCIENCE – Stimulate your senses and explore the world around you as Science charges you up. Have a hair-raising experience with our Van De Graf machine. Learn the science behind making Cotton Candy.  Color your world with a Technicolor Blender. Find out why you can’t taste without smell. Listen closely as you travel with sound and see things before your very eyes.  This session is sure to excite and intensify how you experience the world around you through your senses. Snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.

YOUTHFIT - By integrating knowledge and activity to promote positive, active lifestyles, YouthFit offers a fun, non-intimidating, non-competitive, fitness program.  We combine strength, cardiovascular, balance and stability exercises along with relays and obstacle courses.  This helps build cardiovascular ability, flexibility and energy.  We provide a structured, supervised format for a safe effective workout.  Please wear workout clothes and sneakers.

TOTALLY KIDS YOGA WITH MRS. MAKOSKI - Learn positive, fun, and engaging classes that will explore yoga poses, cooperative stories and games, breathing and relaxation exercises and lessons.  This non-competitive yoga helps develop strength, flexibility, concentration and confidence.   No experience necessary.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a sticky yoga mat and a towel or small blanket.

CLAY CLASS – Learn how to work with clay and explore the endless possibilities of your imagination as we work on projects that are uniquely yours.  Each week children will learn new techniques of working with clay and by the end of the session have several works of art to bring home that showcases their talents.  Children should wear a smock or a large t-shirt since they will be working with clay and paint.

DESANTIS BASKETBALL ACADEMY CLINIC – Learn drills for skills, games, and competitions.  Sessions emphasize fair play and having fun.  Each participant will receive a DBA t-shirt.  Wear gym attire.

INTRODUCTION TO GUITAR- Students will learn the basic skills they will need to play some great music.  Topics covered: notes, chords, strumming and picking.  Students will need to either own their own guitar or rent one.  Please bring guitar, picks, extra strings, amplifier if playing electric guitar to class. Snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.

LEGO IN MOTION- Calling all Lego enthusiasts and builders to this program.  We put fun in motion as students learn how to use wheels and axles, gears, motors, kinetic energy and balance to create numerous contraptions which will be powered with motors and battery packs.

FUN AND EASY BAKING! Come learn how to bake some wonderful treats!  Each week we will be baking a different treat for you to bring home to your family.  There will be cookies, muffins, and maybe a cake or two!  Please wear comfy cloths that you don’t mind getting dirty with flour and such!  Children with food allergies may want to double check with the instructor before signing up.  THIS CLASS IS LIMITED TO ONLY 10 STUDENTS, PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!

JEWELRY MAKING learn how to make your own necklace and bracelet!  In addition to jewelry, we will create some a great project every week, such as a jewelry box.  Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty with paint (or bring a smock/large t-shirt).  Come and prepare to have some fun!  Snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.

Magic with Danny Magic –Magic! Fun! Excitement! Join us as the hysterically funny Danny Magic teaches magic classes to kids just like you!  This 6 week course teaches children in grades 1-5 easy-to-do magic tricks while boosting confidence and self-esteem.  Danny guarantees a laugh out loud, belly-aching good time! Snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.

SHAOLIN FIVE ANIMAL KEMPO KARATE with Jeremy Stollman (2nd Degree Black Belt with over 22 years of Martial Arts experience

 

NOTE: The ending time for this course is 4:20pm not 4:30pm; please arrive on time for your children.

Shaolin Kempo is a self-defense styled Martial Arts which will improve the student’s confidence, concentration and balance, and instills discipline in obtaining life goals.  Students will learn blocking techniques, various punching and kicking techniques as well as formal Martial Arts forms, all taught through positive motivation.  Please wear Karate GI’s or other comfortable clothing and snack time will be available, but PLEASE be aware of peanut allergies.
